floating candle

Generally many types of readymade molds are available in market.
A tip for you. If you have no mold there is an idea.
Take small bowl or glass. Oil the sides & bottom of bowl.
Pour the wax to a depth of one inch.
You may design the candle after removing from bowl.

Candle Making So Easy

Candle making is an easy  art  for creative people.
There are several ways of decorating candles  using dyes, paints , beads, buttons,  etc. We can give unique effects by adding ice pieces, chunks of wax etc and a snowy effect by whisking up wax a bit. We can also try out the various ways with our creativity. This is my work , a sample of vessel candle.

Materials

*Wax - Paraffin wax
*Paraffin (a by product of oil refining)  usually available as flakes in market.
*Vessel- may be of different shape and size
*Wicks  - Braided cotton wicks

Making
*Select the vessel for making candle like glass bowls, cups etc.
*Suspend the wick vertically in the vessel by tying it to a  split cane or a stick. Cut off excess wick and stand or balance the mould in an upright position. .
*Melt the wax in a bowl over a pan of simmering water. Stir in the candle dye if you are using any, until it is evenly distributed. You can use Poster paints and wax crayons instead of Readymade wax dyes.
*Pour the melted wax into the vessel  and allow it to settle. When awell has formed around the wick, carefully top off with more melted wax and allow it to harden overnight.

Kashmiri Work

Kashmiri embroidery is  the skilled work of a single stitch. Chain stitch, satin stitch,  stem, herringbone etc are some of the types. It is easy to learn but requires time and patience to do the work. After completion of the work it gives a good and elegant look.
In the saree I used Kashmiri work, stem stich and Kanta work combination.
